Landuse and Urban Survey Division at Remote Sensing Applications Centre Uttar Pradesh is actively involved in formulation/creation of various types of projects/digital databases like landuse/landcover mapping, urban sprawl mapping/ monitoring, Basemap/urban infrastructure, study of agricultural land/other catagories of land transformation to urban built-up area, land use/cover change analysis, mapping/monitoring of illegal/unauthorized construction/colony under development authority/municipal limit area, site suitability analysis for solid waste disposal site selection/urban development site selection using Remote Sensing data, Geographical Information System and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method/digital classification/visual interpretation. Division has completed the landuse/cover change detection 2nd cycle mapping project for entire state of Uttar Pradesh sponsored by National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad (Department of space, Govt. of India). Besides it solid waste management project in Uttar Pradesh state sector funded by World Bank through U.P. Jal Nigam, Mapping/Monitoring of illegal colonies/encroachment at various sites of Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad, urban spatial growth in municipal corporations, Basemap preparation for master plan mapping to development/regulated authorities has also been completed. Division has published a book titled, “Site suitability modeling for urban development using Remote Sensing, GIS & AHP Method, from European Union and also chapter titled, “Urban spatial growth and landuse change analysis using high resolution Remote Sensing data, GIS and GPS A case study of Varanasi city, Uttar Pradesh, India published from New Delhi Publisher, New Delhi in a book- Integrated Natural Resorce management : The way forward, and a chapter titled, “Urban Spatial Growth Study on Lucknow city has been published in a book titled, Rapid Urbanisation and Sustainable Development in Asia from Badan Penerbit Facultas Geografi (BPFG) Universitas, Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and on the title, “Site suitability evaluation for urban development using Remote Sensing, GIS and Analytic Hierarchy Process from Springer Nature, Singapore in a book titled-Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing has also been published by the division.
